The Sigma Tau Community Uplift Foundation, Inc. in conjunction with Sigma Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Inc. is conducting its annual scholarship selection process.
The Chapter will select area high school seniors to receive monetary scholarship awards payable to their chosen institution of higher learning. The scholarship committee will evaluate all applicants based upon their academic record, honors, and extra-curricular activities in school and within the community.
The committee will also judge the applicant’s ability to express themselves in written (essay) communication. Applicants are required to type a 500–600-word essay with their application.
The Scholarships to be given away are as follows:
James Josephus Crouch Memorial Scholarship $1,000
Hoyt L. Ward Educational Scholarship $1,500
Sigma Tau Community Uplift Foundation Scholarship $1,300
Students should be advised to complete the application along with an essay and return it by email or to our P.O. Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
- Graduating High School Senior Residing in the El Paso area
- Shows potential to successfully handle college/university responsibilities
- Submit a completed application, a photo, written essay and an Official Transcript
The essay must be original, neither previously published nor secured by copyright. The essay must be between 500and 600words in length. The essay must include your name as the author. The essay will be rated on the following criteria:
- Development of Topic: enough information for understanding the topic
- Progression: logical flow of information from beginning to end
- Readability: holds reader’s attention
- Grammar: correct sentence construction
Completed application package must be received by April 30, 2021.

**Awards will be announced on or about June 1, 2021 and the decisions of Sigma Tau Chapter will be final.
**Awards will be submitted to each winner, upon written verification from an institution of higher education that the individual has enrolled. Actual enrollment (not just acceptance) is required. Student account number is required, as award monies will be deposited directly to the Student Account.
**Awards must be claimed within 12 months after the announcement date.
**All documents submitted by applicants are considered confidential and will be used only for the purpose of selecting a scholarship recipient(s).
**Sigma Tau Community Uplift Foundation and Sigma Tau Chapter will be held free from all claims that might arise as a result of application.
